Patriotic porch decor is one of my favorite ways to decorate my porch! It just screams Southern and HOME with a timeless feel. It reminds me of long, hot summers when I was a kid with a popsicle or homemade ice cream…just the best! Today I’m sharing some of my favorite ways to decorate my porch and help give it that American Honey feel. Give some of these patriotic porch decor ideas a try on your porch and let me know what you love!

Patriotic Porch Decor – Buntings

My number one recommendation for a patriotic porch is buntings. They look so classic and timeless. They will last you for years and are very affordable. I grabbed mine at Hobby Lobby when they had them half off. But, I linked some very similar ones from Amazon below.

Tips for Hanging Patriotic Buntings

A few tips for hanging buntings after learning the hard way 😉

  • use these hooks instead of nails (linked here). These have a latch that will stay closed and keep your buntings from flying off during heavy winds or storms
  • when hanging the buntings…start with the middle point and hook it first. Then pull up the left and right side to see where you need to place the other two hooks.

Patriotic Wreaths

You can’t go wrong with a patriotic wreath. While there are countless wreaths out there that will look great, I am a big fan of not buying a special wreath for one holiday and instead just jazzing up a very versatile wreath. Here I just took my typical boxwood wreath that I almost always have hanging up and added a sash from a roll of ribbon and two flags. This transitioned costs me around $3 and once the summer is over, I can easily remove and store these additions for next time! I am linking my favorite boxwood wreath below from Amazon. It’s super versatile and comes with two ribbons for different styling options!

Patriotic Porch Decor – Layering Doormats

I try to keep my doormats the same as my wreaths and make them pretty versatile. It helps so much to just change out the layers on the bottom and also gives it a pretty depth that comes with layering…without having to buy a special mat for every single holiday. Here I just kept my usual black and white striped mat and my “Hello” mat and just added a red, white, and blue grid door mat to add some color and tie into the rest of the patriotic porch decor.

Patriotic Porch Decor – Flags

If you get nothing else to decorate your porch or home with, make it be mini flags…They are so versatile and can be used so many different ways! Check out my blog post here for Foolproof Flag Decorating Ideas You Can Use Immediately (click here). Here I just added them to my plants. They go great in plants, wreaths, mason jars, the sky is the limit for patriotic swag with these.

One of my favorite finds this year is this Rag Tag Flag. I’m sure you’ve seen a DIY version of this floating around on the internet for several years. Truthfully, I had every intention of making my own because they are so pretty! But, after some research, I found this one on Amazon at a price very similar to what the DIY version would costs me so I pulled the trigger and have zero regrets! It’s great quality and looks so nice flowing in the wind. Read more on how to hang and style this flag here. Click the button below if you’d like to snag your own!

Pillows

Last on the list is patriotic pillows. They are a great way to dress up your outdoor area and tie into the rest of the red, white and blue you are adding. Pillows are affordable and can give your nuetral decor a little pop! (or boom!) 😉. This one pictured is out of stock but check Walmart, Amazon or Hobby Lobby!

Once you wrap those all together, your porch will be ready for hot dogs and fireworks! I linked some favorites below!
