Simple *NO DIY* Rag Flag: All the Charm Without the Fuss!
This post is all about NO DIY Rag Flag.
I love a good DIY, but only if it saves me time or money (or hopefully both!) 😉. So, when I stumbled upon this rag flag, it was an immediate *Add to Cart* moment. No glue, no cutting, just take out of the box and hang! I’ll be sharing where to grab your own, how to hang this rag flag to thrive in summer storms, and some styling tips! Read more below for some patriotic home inspiration!

No-DIY Rag Flag – Review and Where to Buy
I was so nervous the quality wouldn’t be up to par…but to my surprise, it is very well made and thick. Straight out of the box for a very similar price to what it would cost you to DIY your own. Granted this is more of a “ribbon flag” than a rag flag, but the patriotic vibes are still going strong! Most importantly, it’s budget friendly and gives that vintage farmhouse feel straight out of the package. You can grab yours below!
How to Hang the Rag Flag Without Damage
There are a few things you will need to add to your flag to help it hang evenly and thrive in the summer storms. You’ll need:
- a wooden dowel at least 28 inches long (I grabbed mine from Walmart craft section for under $1)
- hooks with a safety buckle
These hooks are a complete game changer! If you have ever tried to use regular nails, you probably know the struggle when a strong wind hits or a big storm. These hooks are super affordable and heavy duty. They can also double as Christmas light holders during the winter!
1. Install Hooks
All you will do is take those hooks, find the center of where you are wanting to hang your flag and work out from there.
2. Insert Wooden Dowel
After you have placed your hooks, you are just going to thread the dowel through the space at the top of the flag where the fabric flips over and creates a loop.
3. Tie Twine
The flag comes with a long piece of twine that is intended to run through the opening in the flag and hold it up. If you wanted to use it that way for a looser look, I think that would be fine! But, I wanted mine to look a little more sturdy and centered at the top. So, I used that twine to tie to each side of the dowel.
4. Hang
Then, I (cough….Derek…cough, cough) hung and wrapped the twine around the hooks until the flag was level and at the height I wanted it.
That’s it! Once it is secured it’s not going anywhere. We have tons of random summer storms in TN that come out of nowhere and this flag has been perfectly fine during all of them!
